REVIEW: Home by Ginny L. Yttrup

Home

Melanie Vander, author, and her contractor husband, Craig, are disconnected.  They live a grand life with many materials things, but they are not happy.  For Melanie it shows itself in her inability to write her next book.  For Craig, it stems from a down market for his construction company.  They need each other, but they continue to drift alone.

Neighbors Jill and Marcos provide another good storyline in this novel about finding one’s way home. Each person in the story much reach inside, reach to God, and grieve, regroup and grow.

REVIEW: Restoring Love by Jennifer Slattery

Sometimes God puts us in places where He needs us.  Sometimes He provides situations, in the places where we are, to do good for His Kingdom.  This story is set in the new neighborhood of Angela.  Moving to town for a teacher’s aide job, Angela finds herself in a mixed neighborhood in transition with rising and falling home values, rentals in need of repair, and herself in the temporarily empty home of a missionary family.  Next door to her, Angela finds Bianca and her school-aged children.  With her husband in jail and her job in jeopardy, Bianca needs a hand.  She’s wary and not to sure about the God-thing, but He’s getting her attention.  Angela, with a difficult path yet on a redeemed future, has just the background to help, if Bianca will let her.  A catalyst for the two women is Mitch.  He’s a house flipper and his partner wants him to cast out Bianca and family due to past due rent.  Thank good for Mitch’s heart and his own family’s issues because it makes him compassionate toward both Bianca and Angela.
