REVIEW: Counting Stars by Kathleen Long

A cross-country RV trip for three grieving women and a moody teen set the scene for this story.  Bernie, Jenny, and Bernie’s mom are all trying to come to terms with the unexpected death of Jenny’s husband (Bernie’s brother).  For healing, they decide to tackle his bucket list of places to visit across the US.  Borrowing a friend’s RV, the three women find unexpected strength and resilience as they make their way from place to place.

I thought the author did a great job of incorporating the stages of grief and the numerous emotions that each of the women was facing.  You could appreciate what she was trying to relay in her character development.
