REVIEW: A Shining Light by Judith Miller

Author Judith Miller takes us again to the colonies of Amana.  Each story in the series is independent and I believe they could be read in any order.  I think this is the third story and it follows widow Andrea and her son, Lukas.  Having lost her good-for-nothing husband at sea, Andrea takes her son from a tenement in Baltimore to the farm on which she grew up.  Unfortunately her estranged father has passed away and the land was sold. Andrea is taken in by the neighbors who live in the Amana colonies.  She does not intend to stay, but the stability of the colonies is a much needed presence in their lives.  Disappointment follows them and the two must figure out how to reconcile their new peace with a troubled past.
