REVIEW: Unfit by Lara Cleveland Torgesen

Chrissy is an amazing woman in spite of the numerous hurdles from her teen years and young adult life.  Author Lara Torgesen writes about a painful period of North Carolina history when thousands of unwilling or unknowing persons were sterilized without their consent.  She has created Chrissy, a welfare-family, white teenager as the protagonist.  Through her young life, Chrissy has heartache after heartache and lots of baggage that she carries into a disastrous marriage to Stan.  Thank goodness for the support of her truly good friends.  Chrissy is a believeable character who is scarred by per teen years and it follows her into adulthood.  It’s an opportunity to feel some of the pain of the time period and Chrissy’s experience.
