REVIEW: Traces of Mercy by Michael Landon Jr., Cindy Kelley

First off, know that Traces of Mercy is the first book in a new series. Book 2 isn’t expected out until Fall 2014. Suffering from amnesia, Mercy (the main character) makes little progress in putting the pieces of her life back together after the Civil War ends. This book is set in Missouri with its Western frontier access. Northern and Southern sympathizers both live in the area making for interesting politics. It was a quick read and it left the reader rooting for Mercy to regain her memory, even though it could be painful for her to learn of her past. I recommend this story for Civil War fiction readers and American West readers.
