REVIEW: A Noble Groom by Jody Hedlund

A NOBLE GROOM by Jody Hedlund is an excellent read. Annalisa and her difficult circumstances were palpable. And, Carl Richards is an amazing, enjoyable character. Jody Hedlund seems to have her history straight in the stories that she composes. (She leaves notes at the end where she explains any deviations.) Even though Annalisa is widowed, she is still very dependent on her father for direction. I appreciate how she blooms in the story and becomes so hopeful. Carl and his gentleman ways are so foreign to Annalisa. Carl, too, comes to appreciate so much he took for granted in his privileged upbringing. The peek into life as an immigrant in 1880’s Michigan is an education and an enjoyable read all at the same time. I’m not doing this book justice – read it and get caught up in it yourself. Thanks, Jody! (And thanks to Bethany House for providing me with an advance copy for review.)
