REVIEW: The Air We Breathe by Christa Parrish

awbWow – what an excellent story!  Follow the heart-breaking yet healing story of Claire and Hanna who are drawn to each other through God’s intervention.  I found it to be a unique story line and appreciated the imagery of the wax museum and its frozen-in-time figures.  Hanna and Claire are both suffering from survivor’s guilt.  How that traps them over the years is drawn in a way that readers feel for these characters.  I know it made me hope that I could give support to friends with these sorts of deeply-buried pain.  According to Beverly in the story, God puts us in places sometimes that we do not understand but they are exactly the places where he wants us.  To me, this book was a page-turner.  Thank you to Bethany House for providing a review copy.

This is the 3rd book by Christa Parrish and I have greatly enjoyed all three of them.  According to her publicity website, “Her long-awaited third novel, The Air We Breathe (Bethany House, 2012) has already been named a finalist for the 2013 Christianity Today Book Award.”  Having read this novel, I agree that it should be considered for an award.
